District Administrative Chairs and Committees

The Administrative Committees for the district are headed by various Rotarians (see below). Their appointments are for a period of one year commencing July 1, 2009 and ending on June 30, 2010.

District Audit Chair : Dan Freeman (Casselberry)
Email: Audit [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee audits and certifies the financial reports prepared by the District Treasurer and Governor at the close of the Rotary year.

Finance Committee Chair: Past District Governor Carlos Giraldo (Casselberry)
Email: Finance [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee assists the District Governor in establishing a budget commensurate to the needs of the district and reviews expenditures against an established budget approved by the clubs.

DGE Homestay Committee Chair: Rob Lesperance (Maitland)
Email: Homestay [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee organizes and coordinates hosting of Governors-elect (prior to the International Assembly in January) in clubs throughout the district; plans and coordinates hosting events during their stay in our district. Risk/Insurance Chair: Sarah Hamby (Orlando-East)
Email: Risk-Insurance [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org The chair reviews risk/insurance information required by Rotary International; advices clubs on the necessary requirements for fund raising and service events; advices the district on required risk/insurance.

District Trainer Committee Chair: Jim Salisbury (Kissimmee)
Email: District-Trainer [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org The District’s Training committee, under the direction of the District Governor-elect, is responsible for the training and preparation of the 2010-11 Club Presidents and the 2010-11 District Leadership Team.

District Conference Committee Chair: Larry Rice (South Lake County)

Governor Nomination Committee Chair: Past District Governor Bill Coleman
Email: Governor-Nomination [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee of three Past District Governors and three Past Club Presidents will interview and select the District Governor for 2012-13 in conformance to the policies set forth in the district’s standard operating procedures.

Standard Operation Procedures Committee (S.O.P.) Chair: Past District Governor George Huffman (Orlando)
Email: SOP [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee reviews and makes recommendations on revisions, additions, and deletions to the District’s standard operating procedures. It also prepares the voting instructions for the clubs and assists the District Secretary with credentialing requirements.

District Sargeant At Arms : Tony Puccio (Altamonte Springs)
Email: SAA [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org The District Sargeant At Arms works with the District Coordinator, District Governor and other meeting convener’s with overall meeting logistics and attendee coordination.

Rotary Leadership Institute: Marty Kramer (Winter Springs)
Email: RLI [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org The Rotary Leadership Institute is an affiliated program of Rotary International. District 6980 is a member of the Sunshine Division of RLI, with member districts throughout the southeast U.S. and Caribbean. The RLI District Director oversees the promotion of Institutes held within District 6980 and is responsible for it’s facilitation.

District Coordinator: Bill Litton (Sanford)
Email: Coordinator [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org The District Coordinator assists the Governor on all logistical matters with regard to District events. The Coordinator will also work with the Committee Heads as directed by the Governor.

Rotary International Fellowships Chair: Bill Litton (Sanford)
Email: RIFC [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org The RI Fellowships Chair is responsible for the promotion of the RI Fellowships program to the clubs.

Strategic Planning Chair: Past District Governor Carlos Giraldo (Casselberry)
Email: SP [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee is responsible for creating, reviewing and amending a rolling five-year strategic plan for District 6980. The immediate PDG is the chair of the committee, with the DG, DGE, DGN, DGND and all six Committee Heads as members.

District Designated Funds Administrator: Bob Shydo (Sanford)
Email: DDF [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee assists the Foundation Chair by managing the DDF allocations of the clubs throughout the year.

District Webmaster: Larry Rice (South Lake County)
Email: Webmaster [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This District Webmaster works with the District Governor maintaining an updated, functional, and useful website for the benefit of all Rotarians in District 6980 .

District Communication Officer : Larry Rice (South Lake County)
Email: DCO [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org The District Communication Officer is the key person responsible for the maintenance of the District Database on the DaCdb and the District Website.

Rotarian to Rotarian Business Directory Chair: Past District Governor Carlos Giraldo (Casselberry)
Email: R2RBD [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org Oversees and promotes advertising in the R2R Business Directory to enhance Vocational Service opportunities as well as generate revenue for the publishing of the District Directory.

Hospitality Chair: Past District GovernorBill Coleman (West Orlando)

Rotary International Convention (RI) Promotion Committee Chair: District Governor Elect Charlie Rand (Altamonte Springs)
Email: RI-Convention [at] RotaryDistrict6980.org This committee promotes the International Convention to Rotarians in the District; organizes presentations; informs Rotarians of deadlines; answers queries regarding the convention.
